Children’s hospice ZonnaCare facilitates the transport to and from the hospice. In addition to the driver, there is a nurse present in order to guarantee and continue the required care. We will consult you about the time to pick up your child and will text you the exact time 15 minutes prior to our arrival. We will transport everything that is required for the care session, such as clean clothes, nappies, medication, tube feed and appliances, oxygen cylinders and equipment.  Children’s hospice ZonnaCare will provide the morning care, which means that you can have your child ready in their pyjamas. ZonnaCare will bring your child home the next day, after the evening care has been administered. You will again receive a text message stating the exact time 15 minutes prior to our arrival. During the stay, we will keep a dossier about your child, including their feeding and medication schedules according to the Medical Treatment Contracts Act (in Dutch: WGBO) stipulations. You have direct insight into this dossier. The schedules will be made available by Children’s hospice ZonnaCare.

In order to guarantee continuity and reduce risks, Children’s hospice ZonnaCare has entered into a collaboration with taxi service WIRITAX in Bilthoven. The hospice provides their own minivan and is backed up by the taxi service. WIRITAX is specialised in the individual transport of disabled people and has various wheelchair vans.

The compensation for the care session is based on and in line with the individual care budget (in Dutch: PGB) of our care-intensive children target group. As from 2012, Children’s hospice ZonnaCare provides care based on Care in Kind (in Dutch: Zorg in Natura (ZIN)). Both types of compensation are financed either by the Long-term Care Act (in Dutch: Wlz) or the Healthcare Insurance Act (in Dutch: Zvw).

  • The hospice has care beds, a mobile hoist, sanitary facilities including a shower and shower stretchers, a kitchen and a toilet.
  • We have audiovisual equipment, musical instruments and various sensory therapy (in Dutch: snoezel) accessories.
  • Children’s hospice ZonnaCare has a specially adapted minivan.

Some of the above-mentioned facilities were realised with the aid of Stichting Leuk Ontspannen Logeren, Stichting Nationaal Fonds “het Gehandicapte Kind” (Stinafo), Nederlandse Stichting voor het Gehandicapte Kind (NSGK), Elise Mathilde fonds and Radix Fundatie. Various musical instruments were donated by Kick Music. The charity Stichting ZonnaCare (previously Stichting SOUL) supports projects that provide overnight stays for care-intensive children and, as a result, Children’s hospice ZonnaCare. Social Network Foundation (SNF) and Stichting Pallieter support us where necessary. A more complete overview can be found here.
